Linda Franklin created Shining Service Worldwide™ in November 2010.  She says, “it was destiny”  The whole idea started to germinate when women serving in Afghanistan emailed her saying that they read The Real Cougar Woman™ blog every day and how powerful they felt when they did.  They called themselves “The Combat Cougars” and they just wanted to say thank you for the valuable information she was providing them.

From that fateful day to this Linda has been committed helping all women connected to military service.  Their sacrifices are many and appreciation shows has been limited.  Like many women, they have fallen through the cracks.

Mission Statement – Shining Service Worldwide™

Shining Service Worldwide™ is an organization  that shows APPRECIATION and SUPPORT to women currently serving in the military, military vets and military spouses. Too often our females in service fall through the cracks and don’t get the attention they deserve, or more importantly, they need.  We want to help provide those resources for them. Our program at Shining Service Worldwide™ is three fold: Our Shining Service Blog is designed to encourage military women to use their voices and their stories to help reintegrate into civilian society.  It is also a resource showing them the help that is available to them from other sources. The Shining Service Bracelet™ is our way of bring attention to our military women and also helping to fund our mentoring services. Our Shining Service Makeover Missions™ are two-fold: The beauty makeovers, provided at salons all over the country, are the first step in reconnecting a woman to her feminine side The 3-month mentoring program, following the beauty makeover continues to build her self esteem and showing her she does have a voice what she is capable of accomplishing.  Each woman is provided with an executive mentor and a military mentor so all bases are covered.  A corporate work/study component is also available Shining Service Worldwide™ is proud to be a special project under the umbrella of our Fiscal Sponsor United Veterans Beacon House, Inc. – a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to provided transitional housing to our nations veterans. Here I am again on another assignment that I volunteered for, a 53 year old mother of 3 adult children and Nana to 4 grandchildren. I arrived here at Camp Eggers, Afghanistan in May of 2010 dressed in my ACU’s, a Kevlar (helmet), IOTV (bullet proof vest), my 9M on my hip and rucksack on my back, to a small FOB (Forward Operating Base) near the city of Kabul.

Linda, I want to thank you for giving me what you have with The Real Cougar Woman blog. I think without it, a lot of women here wouldn’t be where they are today.

The “shining service bracelets” are a blessing. They have brought so many women together, not for a cause, but for women period.
